Toilet soaps top advertising category on GECs: TAM Media Research

NEW DELHI: Commercial advertising added 55 percent to the total volume of ads across general entertainment channels (GEC) whereas promos constituted 45 percent in calendar year 2020, according to a report on advertising across the GEC category published by TAM Media Research.

Toilet soaps topped the list of top 10 advertising categories on GECs with 9% of the total ad volumes across the genre, according to the report.

Around 1300 exclusive advertisers and 2700 brands advertised exclusively on general entertainment channels during year 2020, the report said.

The GEC genre covered one-fourth of total ad volumes across television during the period between 2016 to 2020.

E-commerce – media, entertainment and social media, saw the highest increase in as secondage during this year compared to the previous year, the report said.
